A Global Adventure in Math and Science: Klager Elementary Hosts Immersive Event

Exploring the World Through Math and Science Night

On April 26, Klager Elementary School hosted an immersive and engaging event called Around the World with Math and Science Night. Organized by a dedicated team of Klager and high school volunteers, the event took place in the Klager cafeteria and provided families with the opportunity to explore various aspects of math and science from around the world.

Children were able to discover the science of growing food in the Arctic, the origins of popcorn in Peru, and how sorbet was invented in China. They also engaged with technology through robotics demonstrations by Klager K-12 robotics teams and practiced their engineering skills with K’Nex sets from the United States. An art show preview delighted families, who were also able to participate in a make and take activity to create notebooks, invented in Australia.

Throughout the event, Title 1 representatives shared information on reading Michigan-based books and products, while MI Future Funds provided guidance on college planning and saving. Children voted for their favorite station at the end of the night, with the Robotics Teams winning the title.

Families of all ages enjoyed the interactive and engaging event, which allowed them to explore different facets of math and science from around the world.
