A Clash of Titans: USA vs Finland in IIHF Women’s World Championship Semifinal Match

Women’s Worlds Meeting Scheduled between U.S. and Finland

In tonight’s semifinal match at the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship, Team USA will face off against Finland. The U.S. is coming off a dominant 10-0 victory against Japan in the quarterfinals and has a long history of success in semifinal games, holding a 17-1-1 record and having not lost a game since 2009.

The U.S. and Finland have met 25 times before, with the U.S. currently holding a strong 20-1-1-0-1 record against them. In their last matchup on April 6th, the U.S. defeated Finland 5-3, with Kendall Coyne Schofield scoring two goals. The U.S.’s goalie, Aerin Frankel, has been exceptional in the tournament so far, recording three shutouts in four games for Team USA. This ties the record for the most shutouts in a single Women’s World Championship tournament and has not been achieved since 2005
