47 Palestinians killed in 24 hours by Israeli attacks: Humanitarian crisis intensifies as food prices reach prohibitive levels

47 Palestinians have lost their lives in the last 24 hours due to Israeli attacks in the Strip, bringing the total death toll to 37,765 since the beginning of the war. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the attacks are currently concentrated in the central and northern parts of the enclave.

In Shujaiya neighborhood, heavy bombings have taken place resulting in at least seven deaths and thirty injuries. Meanwhile, eleven Palestinians were killed in an attack on a school in Al Shati camp and three others died in a bombing against a group of people west of town. In Yabalia, attacks resulted in at least 17 deaths due to bombings and Israeli artillery attacks.

As humanitarian crisis continues to intensify, food prices in northern Gaza have reached prohibitive levels, with basic foodstuffs becoming increasingly unaffordable for majority population. A kilo of onions now costs around $70 while a kilo of tomatoes is priced at around $50. The situation has been dire for at least three weeks with prices continuing to rise every day.

The Israeli armed forces continue their operations in southern part of enclave targeting Hamas militants. The military carried out an attack on Al Hasna school which was allegedly being used as Hamas militants’ base of operations. The Israeli Army stated that attack was planned prudently to minimize harm to non-combatants. Operations are ongoing with clashes reported and humanitarian situation worsening as a result conflict.
