27-Year-Old Cameron Young Ties PGA Record with Historic 59 at Travelers Championship

Cameron Young started the third round of the Travelers Championship tied for 24th place, but he made a big move on Saturday with a historic round. The 27-year-old American carded a 11-under-par 59 at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut, becoming the 12th PGA golfer in history to achieve this feat.

Young’s round included two eagles and seven birdies, and he finished with a 10-foot par putt on the final hole to secure his place in the record books. His performance fell just one stroke short of Jim Furyk’s record 58 at the same course in 2016. Furyk is the only player to have achieved the sub-60 round twice on the PGA Tour.

Despite his impressive performance, Young remains focused on securing his first PGA victory. He currently sits at world number 23 and has four professional wins under his belt. While he acknowledges the significance of his 59, Young believes there are other achievements in his career that he values more.

Before his record-breaking round, Young’s previous low score on the PGA Tour was a 62 at the Genesis Invitational in 2022. His strong play at the Travelers Championship has put him in contention heading into the final round, and fans will be eager to see if he can maintain his momentum and secure his first PGA Tour victory.
