2025 World Games Qualifiers: Europe and America Secure Spots for Compound Archery, Field Archery Competitions in Paris 2024 Set to Continue Qualification

Gibson, the defending champion, is among the qualifiers for the World Games in Essen.

The 2024 European Championships served as the second qualifier for the upcoming World Games in Chengdu in 2025. Six spots were awarded to the medallists in the compound events, with Denmark, Great Britain, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, and Türkiye all securing quotas. This brings the total number of nations on the roster to 10 after two qualifying events.

In addition to the European Championships, six spots were also awarded at the Pan American Championships in early April. Renowned Colombian compounder Sara Lopez’s third-place finish secured her a spot at what may be her fourth World Games appearance. Lopez, who won the multisport event in 2017, lost in the final in 2022 to Ella Gibson, the newly crowned European Champion.

Compound archery has been a part of the World Games program since its introduction in 1993. The competition switched to target archery in 2013. Qualification for the next edition of the World Games will continue at continental championships leading up to 2025. Paralympic Champions at Paris 2024 and athletes ranked at the start of the next outdoor season in early April 2025 will also earn additional spots.

Field archery for recurve and barebow archers has been a part of the World Games program since 1985. Qualification for this year’s field archery events will take place at world championships scheduled for September.
