2024 Pete Rozelle Award: 49ers PR Team Acknowledged for Outstanding Media Interactions

The 49ers PR Team is Honored with the Rozelle Award

The 49ers public relations team has been recognized for their outstanding work with the media and has been awarded the 2024 Pete Rozelle Award. This award, which acknowledges professionalism in sports PR, was given to the 49ers staff for the first time in its 35-year history. The team is the 11th to win this award in the past decade, following the Texans and Ravens who shared it in 2017. Other finalists for the 2024 award were the Cowboys, Raiders, Rams, and Dolphins.

The Pete Rozelle Award is presented to an NFL club’s public relations staff that demonstrates excellence in their interactions with the media. The award is named after Pete Rozelle, who served as NFL commissioner from 1960 to 1989 and began his career in sports PR. Throughout the 2023 season, the 49ers football communications staff included Corry Rush as vice president of football communications, Peter Volmut as director of football communications, Kristin Wojcik as manager of football communications, and Zackary Teats as coordinator of football communications. The team also received assistance from Caleigh Elkin as a football communications seasonal intern, Ellie Caple as director of communications and public affairs, Josh Stephens as senior manager of communications and public affairs, and Jacob Fill as senior coordinator of corporate communications.

The dedication of the 49ers’ public relations team to providing access to beat writers throughout the season earned them this prestigious recognition. They facilitated communication between head coach Kyle Shanahan, assistant coaches, players General Manager John Lynch, front office personnel and members of the media resulting in positive relationships being fostered between them all throughout
