16-Year-Old Tennis Prodigy Mimi Xu Breaks into Top 10 of Junior World Rankings

Xu, the rising star, expresses humility in achieving top 10 status in junior rankings

Mimi Xu, a talented Welsh tennis player from Swansea, has recently broken into the top 10 of the junior world rankings. At just 16 years old, Xu has been making waves in the international tennis scene thanks to her impressive performances in major junior tournaments.

One of her standout achievements was reaching the quarter-finals of the girls’ doubles at the French Open with fellow Brit Hannah Klugman. She also had success at the Australian Open earlier this year.

Xu is currently training at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, where she is coached by Mathew James, a former coach to Emma Raducanu. She expressed feeling “humbled” by her recent achievement and shared her pride in reaching the top 10 of the ITF junior world rankings.

As she gears up for Wimbledon this year, Xu made history as the youngest player to enter the junior tournament in 2021. She reached the round of 16 in both 2022 and 2023, and this year she will be competing in the ladies’ qualifying event.

In a statement, Xu shared her excitement for the future and a continued commitment to excellence in her career. “I am thrilled to have reached this milestone and I am grateful for all of the hard work and dedication that my team has put into my development,” she said. “I am looking forward to continuing to compete at a high level and achieving even greater success in my career.”
