Quan, a 12-year-old boy from Ho Chi Minh City, was experiencing difficulty breathing and swelling all over his body. In just three days, he had gained 4 kg and had high blood pressure. His family initially thought it was just a sore throat and gave him fever-reducing medicine. However, Quan continued to attend school without any fever or cough symptoms. Last week, his face started to swell, he urinated less, gained weight rapidly, and experienced overall body swelling.

Concerned about his health, Quan’s family took him to Ho Chi Minh City for further examination. Upon arrival at Tam Anh General Hospital, Quan began experiencing headaches and difficulty breathing, leading to emergency treatment. Acute glomerulonephritis occurs when the kidneys are unable to filter waste and fluid properly, leading to complications like high blood pressure and difficulty breathing. If left untreated, it can result in severe consequences such as heart failure, seizures, and stroke. Treatment for Quan included diuretics, antihypertensive medications, and dietary adjustments to manage his condition.
