111-Year-Old British Man Officially Recognized as the Oldest Man in the World by Guinness World Records

British man takes title as world’s oldest man at 111 years old

British man John Alfred Tinniswood, 111 years old, has been officially recognized as the oldest man in the world by Guinness World Records. This title was previously held by Juan Vicente Pérez Mora from Venezuela who passed away just before his 115th birthday. Another contestant, Gisaburo Sonobe from Japan, was expected to be named the oldest man but was confirmed to have died at the age of 112 on March 31.

Tinniswood was awarded a certificate by Guinness World Records at the care home where he resides in Southport, northwest England. He is known by staff as “a big chatterbox” and shared that the secret to his long life includes luck, regular exercise, and enjoying fish and chips every Friday.

Born in Liverpool on August 26, 1912, just a few months after the Titanic sank, Tinniswood has lived through two world wars and even served in the British Army Pay Corps during World War II. He is currently the oldest living male World War II veteran according to Guinness World Records.

As a retired accountant and great-grandfather, Tinniswood believes that moderation is key to a healthy life. He doesn’t smoke, rarely drinks alcohol, and does not follow any specific diet apart from his weekly fish and chips meal. Tinniswood mentioned that overindulgence in any activity can lead to suffering and that ultimately, living a long life is a matter of luck.

The oldest living person in the world is Maria Branyas Morera from Spain who is 117 years old. Tinniswood’s achievement as the oldest living man in the world is a remarkable milestone and a testament to his healthy lifestyle and positive outlook on life.
